LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION!

When recording a live video shoot for television, the camera is unforgiving. I realized this just over a year ago, when we were doing a live shoot with ABC News in San Diego. Bree Steffen, the local reporter, asked us to do a brief walk through for the live shot that we were about to film. What I failed to hear her say was "We are doing this live, no time for practice."  Sort of a key phrase to miss, wouldn’t you agree?  At the time, I was joking about mistakes we could make when all of the sudden Brian turned to me and said, "This is live!" I thought he was kidding as I was a few steps behind Steve, Brian and Bree. I began walking and played along. After we finished the take, I asked if we were ready to shoot live. Bree turned to me and replied, "That was it." I thought she was joking. I thought wrong.

How would you live and act if you knew people were always watching you? What would you risk? How would you live and how would you love?  God the Father risked everything for humanity. He was willing to send his son Jesus to live among us in a sinful, and unforgiving world. John described it this way, “The Word became flesh and blood, and moved into the neighborhood. We saw the glory with our own eyes, the one-of-a-kind glory, like Father, like Son, Generous inside and out, true from start to finish.”  (John 1:14, The Message)
